EF Dia de los Muertos New York Meetup
On October 30th, Everlasting Footprint held its first ever New York Meetup event, a Dia de los Muertos themed Happy Hour.
Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that brings family and friends together to remember and honor loved ones who’ve passed away. Inspired by the spirit of celebrating both death and the cycle of life, we decided that this New York Meetup event would be a modern twist on this traditional holiday.
Around 20 guests joined the festivities, which started at 6pm at La Palapa restaurant in New York. Everlasting Footprint Chief Executive Officer, Nick Zhou, personally welcomed attendees & kicked off the night with a few words and shared his ideas for future New York Meetup events. Candid conversations were had over pitchers of red wine sangria, chicken and steak quesadillas, and nachos with freshly made guacamole.
Throughout the evening, guests had a chance to write dedications for their loved ones on our “Wall of Remembrance.” Using the iPad, they scribbled down names & heartfelt notes in their own handwriting. It was our digital (and NYC-graffiti-inspired) adaptation to the traditional community altar for Dia de los Muertos.
Later in the night, Everlasting Footprint’s Chief Operating Officer, Archana Pinnapuredy handed out sugar skull cupcakes that she baked herself, dessert giveaways after dinner. It was a sweet ending to a wonderful New York Meetup event.
We are very grateful to all the “celebrators” who attended our Dia de los Muertos event and we look forward to meeting more of you at future events. Everlasting Footprint aims to be a supportive and empathetic community not just online but offline as well. Please stay tuned for more Everlasting Footprint events in New York and Florida.
