September 11 Video Special from Everlasting Footprint Team

For tonight’s Sunday Grief and Loss Round Up, we are doing a September 11 video special.

As a New York based team, the tragedy and its aftermath hit painfully close to home. There was so much pain and destruction, grief and loss, but with it, came rebirth, recovery, and resilience. Thirteen years later, New York City is its very own success story. It has bounced back stronger than ever, and we would like to celebrate its incredible tale of triumph over adversity.

The roundup for tonight will feature 3 bite sized videos.

1. The Everlasting Footprint team went down to Ground Zero area on September 13, 2014 to pay tribute to the 2,977 people who lost their lives on 9/11. While in downtown Manhattan, the team struck conversations with folks who shared their stories of what happened on September 11. (2:22mins)

2. Hans Honschar is an American street artist who was affected by the tragedy and channeled his sadness into poetry. He wrote his poem about his grief and loss, “911,” two months after the twin towers went down. The video features a montage of photographs taken by the Everlasting Footprint team on September 11, 2014, with Hans Honschar himself reading his poem out loud to a crowd of New Yorkers. This short but sweet poem is a touching testament of the power of love to overcome pain and suffering. (0:55mins)

3. The Official 9/11 Memorial YouTube page featured this amazing story of a lone pear tree at the World Trade Center that miraculously survived the collapse of the Twin Towers on 9/11. It has become a metaphor for hope and the resilience of the human spirit. (2:12mins)

Please visit our Everlasting Group Footprint for September 11 tribute page and share your own stories and memories. Everlasting Footprint always wants to remind you to overcome grief and loss by celebrating life together.
